Yoga for Children
video: YogaKids
by Lisa Trivell
Youngsters
will thoroughly enjoy toning their inner and outer selves during this
half-hour of easy, playful exercise. Designed for kids aged three to
ten, this program introduces yoga for children to the ancient art of
yoga in a very modern fashion.
Instructor Marsha Wenig teams
with a group of kids who confidently demonstrate each position against
a backdrop of lovely nature. As the kids repeat each of the 20 poses
-- everything from the butterfly pose to the volcano pose -- the yoga
teacher gently explains the strength derived from each exercise.
Since yoga for children does
not require fast feet or strong arms, young viewers of all skill levels
will be able to accomplish the majority of these poses on their first
try. Lessons in breathing, relaxation, and balance are given equal time
with the benefits of stretching and strengthening. This yoga for children
video is a well-rounded choice for any family's fitness collection.
"My son received
this yoga for children video as a gift for his 3rd birthday. At first,
I was worried that my very energetic son would not have the patience
to learn yoga, but this video moved along from one pose to the next
quickly, and really kept his interest. I especially liked the way that
the video teaches about the importance of breath. Everything is taught
in a way that is easily understood and absorbed by a young kid. Great
video to give as a Christmas gift this year." ~ Rachel Malone
